Bob Dylan.

Sí, el mismo que dijo All I can do is be me, whoever that is. Ah.

pd. Y encima de ser un capo escribiendo, se vestía incluso mejor que un escandinavo.

Natasha Khan's style

"Bat for lashes" is Natasha Khan's band. I've been listening a lot to her lately, the whimsical sound amazes me. But she's not only daring in music terms, but in the way she shows herself to the world: covered in gold jewerly, feathers, sequins and dramatic make-up (all at once). Not being mainstream is pretty much a quality these days and Natasha's not scared to be the eccentric one of the gang, which makes her truly a character.

By the way, just if you're curious about how she sounds: Her songs Glass & What's a girl to do are great (make sure you check out the videoclip on youtube). Also, I highly recommend her Use Somebody (originally by the kings of Leon) cover.

Leslie Feist wearing white tights.

Thought these pictures were beautiful. Plus, I'm in love with everything Feist is (that includes her indie attitude, voice, pretty bangs and sense of style).

Janis Joplin: The hippie queen.

Janis Joplin's style caught my eye from the very beginning. I love how she was so free and used to wear what she wanted, she was not scared to look different and I guess that's the attitude that makes me think of her as a fashion icon. She was all about long beaded necklaces, crafty belts, lots of bangles and round sunglasses (bigger than the ones John Lennon popularized back in the 60s). I know it's kind of ironic I've made one of those "Get the look" posts, because most of the stuff she wore was homemade, but I couldn't help myself and did this collage (which, by the way, took me a couple of hours to be ready).

Looking for Inspiration? Patti Smith has it all.

Singer, poet & song-writter. She was friends with Andy Warhol, Robert Mapplehorpe's muse, and inspiration for great musicians such as Michael Stipe (R.E.M). First it was her music I was only in love with, but then that love grew more intense. See, I have the habit of collecting pictures of artists (usually musicians). She was wearing all these masculine clothes with such attitude that really really amazed me and it was inevitable to fall in love with the personality she shows trough her style. I mean, the ripped or rolled up jeans, the baggy tees, the lace up boots, the bowler hat, the socks over her trousers, the blazers... isn't she perfect?

PS. The handsome guy next to her in a couple of pictures is the talented photographer I talked you about a couple lines above, Robert Mapplehorpe.

Add some rock n' roll to your life

I remember writing some months ago about how plaid reminded me of the very talented Kurt Cobain (RIP). Inspired on the "channeling" idea, I've prepared this post to discuss about how some old rock n roll items are still being worn today making average outfits more interesting.

-------------------------

Some days ago, Kat from She's in Vogue wrote about how important is to have a striped t-shirt. I was not surprised to read that some people considered it even a basic in their wardrobes. It's not like "the 80s are not back", because they were always here, and the classic striped tee is a proof of that.

Ripped jeans. It's not like "ohmygod they're back", but we don't have to follow fashion exactly like magazines and E! news tell us, right?. No, no. Here you have some pictures of how Ashley Olsen and Vanessa Hudgens managed to look great with ripped jeans.

-------------------------

Jim Morrison, leader of The doors, another of my favurite bands, was popular for wearing these, that's right, leathr pants were huge in the 70s. But now, I really can't picture myself on them. As leather pants are pretty difficult to pull off, designers around the world came up with a more up-to-date version of leather trousers: spandex lamé leggings.

Kate Moss, MK Olsen & Ashley Olsen

-------------------------

The popular Axel Rose look. I've tried this look many times (perfect for concerts). It's very cool and easy to do and it doesn't matter how boring is your outfit, a headband like this will make everything look much more fun.

Mischa Barton, Nicole Richie & Vanessa Hudgens (with a more sophisticated version of the headband)

Plaid fabrics: Kurt Cobain would be proud...

The latest fabric to dress yourself in is plaid. We've seen it on the runway and even, some celebrities have been spotted wearing some plaid items. I love Kurt Cobain (since Nirvana is one of my all-the-time favourite bands and he's just too cute) and of course, when i first saw the plaid shirt trend on celebrities it immediately reminded me of him.

Several designers showed how cool plaid is right now on their collections. Here you have some pictures.
Up: All of them are from Moschino Down (left to right): Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Balenciaga and Luella

Young Hollywood girls decided to add a little plaid to their outfits by wearing 'boyfriend' shirts, and the result looks pretty rad, huh? This is definitely the way to rock plaid in a normal day. Remember, Plaid shirts are a MUST piece for the season ;)

Mk Olsen, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Jessica Simpson, Jessica Alba & Ashley Olsen

Some plaid pieces I wouldn't mind having :) ... Teen choice awards will be transmited here today at 9pm for the first time on E!. That sucks, because everyone has already seen them =(. Anyways, I'll still watch them=) and will do a fashion review of it (=, ehrm, maybe.
