Buenos aires, caminito.

I visited as much as I could (too bad I only had 9 days to spend there). I fell in love with San Telmo. I fell in love with the libraries (also, the books are a little bit cheaper there!). I fell in love with the streetstyle. I fell in love with their accent (although i love mine too). Oh, and the MALBA, oh my, oh my, loved it. To sum up, I quite enjoyed the city. I'm in Lima since a while now, but one thing and another didn't allow me to post here. Classes have already started for me (I'm taking Art history at uni this summer) and I'm also involved with a couple of projects (more social oriented ones). Any way, it's always great to remember the good old days and my flickr account (which you're totally invited to check out) is good at that.

El viaje estuvo precioso, visité tanto como pude (una pena que solo tenía 9 días para estar ahí). Me enamoré de San Telmo, de las librerías (los libros cuestan menos allá que acá), del acento, del estilo de vestir y del MALBA (es buenísimo!). Hace ya unos días que estoy en Lima, pero una que otra cosa no me dejó retomar la actividad en el Blog. Las clases han empezado para mí ya (estoy llevando un curso de historia del arte este verano en la universidad) y ando metida en un par de proyectos (que se van más por el lado de desarrollo social, de acuerdo con mi carrera). Sin embargo, todos sabemos que a los buenos tiempos vale la pena recordarlos y para eso subí algunas fotos de mi viaje que pueden ver aquí!

Wearing/llevo puesto: White sweater (bought at flea market in BsAs), sunglasses (mango), jeans (scombro), shoes (we call them 'alpargatas' here and I bought them - for a very cheap price - in a supermarket in BsAs, the name was "Carrefour" as far as I remember, it's funny because they actually sell food there too), bag (bought here in Peru) & various bracelets.

I'm in Buenos Aires since today. I arrived at midday, it was a short trip and I saw Batman: the dark knight in the airplane (Heath Ledger did a superb work in that movie). After grabbing something to eat, my sister and I walked along the Santa Fe Avenue, in Recoleta neighbourhood. It's a wonderful place to go shopping, there are many independent design and vintage boutiques. Between them one caught our eye inmediately. It was the "Galería quinta avenida" (Av. Santa Fe 1270). We ended up at Mrs. Marta's little store in the underground floor (# 7-8-9). She was a lovely lady and let me take these pictures. If you happen to visit BsAs make sure you visit her shop, it is truly amazing.

Estoy en Buenos Aires desde hoy. Llegué al mediodía, fue un viaje corto y en el camino vi Batman, el caballero de la noche (que no me pareció magnífica, salvo por la impecable actuación de Heath Ledger). Luego de comprar algo de comer, mi hermana y yo recorrimos la Av. Santa Fé en el barrio de Recoleta, es una maravilla para las compras. Hay muchas boutiques de diseño independiente y vintage. Entre ellas nos llamó especialmente la atención una galería llamada "La quinta Avenida" (Av. Santa Fe 1270). La recorrimos de pies a cabeza hasta que paramos en la tienda de la señora Marta (Local 7-8-9). Ella era una dama encantadora y permitió que tomara estas fotos en su tiendecilla del subsuelo llena de vestidos, faldas, blusas y accesorios de ensueño que ella selecciona junto a una amiga. Si están alguna vez por la zona, no duden en visitarla, estoy segura de que quedarán cautivados.

Underwear as outerwear is a tricky one to pull off. Found this picture a while ago on The Sartorialist and this have to be one of the few girls who managed to look chic with this trend, I believe.

El tema de la ropa interior como ropa cualquiera es uno difícil. Encontré esta foto en el blog The Sartorialist, la chica es una de las pocas que ha dado la talla en esta tendencia, creo yo.

Patterned tights.

These not only work great with monochrome dresses, it's all about mixing and matching. I recently received a pair of tights with little hearts. Too bad it's too hot now to wear them. As usual, can't wait for fall!

Estas mallas no solo se ven geniales con vestidos monócromos, todo se trata de mezclar y combinar. Hace poco me regalaron unas mallas con corazones. Una pena que haga tanto bochorno aquí y todavía no las puedo usar, ¡qué sea invierno pronto!

The picture was taken last year in december. Chloë attended the My Son, My Son What Have Ye Done Premiere in California. She, beautiful as usual, wore leopard print high waisted trousers from Chloé's 2010 Resort collection, which she paired with basic pieces and red lipstick.

La imagen es de cuando Chloë fue a la premiere de "My Son, My Son What Have Ye Done" en California. La foto es de diciembre del año pasado, así que es antigua, pero no tanto. Linda ella, lleva puesto un pantalón atigrado de tiro alto de la colección Resort 2010 de Chloé que combinó con prendas básicas y labios rojos.

She appears imperturbable sorounded by tattooed bodies. Her flawless skin, not because it's clean, but because she's never been inked, contrasts with the guys' colorful body art. Tattoos manifest that the body can be used as a canvas.

Ella permanece inalterable entre tanto tatuado. Su piel impecable, no por 'limpia', sino por lo de nunca antes intervenida en contraste con el arte colorido que llevan los jóvenes que la acompañan. Los tatuajes manifiestan que el soporte de una obra podría ser el cuerpo mismo.
