Luego de las prendas básicas, vienen las que aportan.

Luego de haber invertido en prendas básicas, vale la pena elegir con cuidado algunas que "aporten" al proceso más creativo. Algunos complementos interesantes que encontré: Los mejores shorts de cuero que he visto hasta hora, unos tacos de Zara que estuvieron en tiendas por el 2011, pero nunca dejarán de parecerme hermosos. Accesorios que pueden marcar la diferencia como brazaletes de argollas grandes, bolsos atigrados o con pedrería (yo tengo uno, como un sobre). 'Sostenes' lindos, cómodos. Un saco a rayas. Las fotos son referenciales, de diseñadores como Alexander Wang o Michael Kors, pero las pongo porque similares no son difíciles de conseguir en tiendas de pulgas o por departamento, buscando todo se puede :)

Beautiful embroidered clutch (I have one of my own since 2009). Stripped blazer by Alice + Olivia. Alexander Wang leopard tote bag. This, of course, it's mainly inspirational. Similar to some of this stuff could be found in more affordable versions ;)

I was checking the Alexander Wang site, which by the way is on revamp, and i saw these beautiful pictures that really made me crave some boy clothing items. It's interesting to see how nice styled and cute pictures may change your perspectives a little bit, at least for some items (never for crocs. I just had to make that clear).

The Shorts

First i thought of cutting some of my old jeans, but when i tried them on, they were way too tight on my thighs and that was not how i wanted it to look. Then i showed the pictures to my dad and He inmediately noticed these were obviously man jeans. How fool I am :), I guess I'll look for them and then cut them, oh and i have to make sure they fall a little bit (just like they do on the girl in the picture).

I'll guess I'll just get one in S, because I'm normally an M size in girls/women clothing and then roll the sleeves. I'm so excited.

Now I have to ask myself: how many times have I came upon both of these items and totally ignored them? I have seen them before, many times on thrift stores, they have thousands of them. Or at least, they used to. Now, I just have to go again, but with a new and different idea of what's cool for me now.

New year's eve outfit ideas.

New year, new wardrobe, they say. I'm not sure on that. I haven't bought anything new for wearing tonight, I think I'll rescue something I haven't worn much and i'll mix up. Anyway, I did had fun today, not shopping, but putting together these concepts that may give you a little inspiration when getting dressed tonight. The first one is a playsuit, which I believe is a fantastic alternative if you don't want to go with the usual mini dress trend. The second has a pretty in punk vibe with golden accents. Finally, the third combo is more of what I love, simple basic outfits in which the accesories are the shining stars, also as the trousers are pretty conservative I think it would be a fun twist to wear a low back top. Año nuevo, todo nuevo dicen. No estoy muy segura de eso. Yo por lo menos no me compré nada nuevo para lucir hoy, creo que que rescataré algo que no me haya puesto mucho y haré una que otra mezcla. Sin embargo sí me he entretenido mucho esta mañana armando los siguientes conceptos que podrían servirles de inspiración al vestirse esta noche. El primero es un enterizo negro que resulta una divertida opción en lugar del clásico mini-vestido y va acompañado de accesorios que se imponen, como sandalias extravagantes y una cartera llena de aplicaciones. La segunda combinación es menos elegante, tiene una vibra más romántica, pero como no puedo con mi genio, combiné lazos y tul con un polo a rayas, así salió algo más del estilo "pretty in punk". La tercera imagen es básicamente más de lo que me encanta: la vestimenta luce clásica mientras que los accesorios iluminan todo. Debido a que el pantalón es bastante conservador, se me ocurre que pueden llevar un bvd de los que tienen el escote en la espalda. Espero la guía les sea útil y de paso mando mis mejores deseos para el 2010!

More denim!

Some of you might know how much I loved Alexander Wang's latest two collections (fall 2008, and Spring 2008), which both include denim shorts. I'm not talking about those perfect fit shorts Lilo has been wearing lately, I was actually referring to those slouchy (maybe a little ripped, high waisted or not) very rock n' roll ones. Of course, we must be very thankful to Erin Wasson, the stylist for both runway shows, who made a terrific work and, as Alexander's inspiring muse had to be featured on this post also wearing a pair of these.

Theatre day.

Sometimes when making collages like this I think about a three days trip to an special city of the world and the pieces i would like to carry there. I'm a good traveler (well, my mom said that once and since then i like to believe it), I carry few stuff because I like to stay relaxed in airports. I have the idea of only carrying stuff that you're sure will be useful or you will wear, which means I don't pay much attention to situations that have almost no possibility of happening (For example: "taking a bathing suit if the weather gets hot in autumn" or "taking three black tees if one gets stained and the other got wet by the rain on the same day"). Plus, that gives me room in the suitcase for carrying souvenirs without paying over weight charges when coming back home. Today, I'll be travelling. Well, not in the word's exact sense. I'm going to the theatre tonight (The test by Lukas Bärfuss). Theatre, when visited with the right predisposition, happens to be an emocional trip.

A veces cuando hago este tipo de collages, pienso en un viaje de tres días a una ciudad del mundo especial y en las prendas que llevaría en mi maleta para combinar. Soy buena viajera (bueno, mi mamá lo dijo una vez y desde entonces, me gusta creerlo), cargo poco porque me gusta pasarlo bien en los aeropuertos y porque soy de la idea de que si llevas algo es porque va a ser útil o te lo vas a poner (no presto atención a situaciones con 0.01% posibilidad de acontecer como "llevo traje de baño por si sale el sol" cuando es otoño o "llevo tres polos negros por si a uno le cae aceite y el otro se me moja en la lluvia el mismo día") y porque me da la oportunidad de comprar cosas y no sufrir por el sobre peso al regreso. Hoy me voy de viaje. Bueno, no en el sentido estricto de la palabra, pero iré al teatro, a ver "La Prueba" del suizo Lukas Bärfuss. El teatro, si acudimos con la predisposición correcta, puede ser un viaje, uno emocional.

Channeling the 70s: Light denim

We've already seen how Alexander Wang's runway collection was full of light denim for spring. Of course, some celebrities noticed that and took notes because it seems like some of them have already found the perfect pair of pale jeans for summer.

Cheap Monday: SS 2010 collection.

Cheap Monday looks for spring/summer 2010 seem like inspired by the whole grunge subculture. The collection is full of distressed denim and shredded cotton pieces, both on the list of what we've already seen on DIY projects and Alexander Wang's work. What I do find interesting is the patching work. I love the fact that the patches are very feminine and such, it balances the whole grungy vibe. Also, we should notice Ann-Sofie Back's contribution to this collection. She, as Cheap Monday's new head designer, was in charge of everything but jeans, which remained under Orjan Andersson's control (founder of the brand). Yes, that would mean those dresses, sweaters and knitwear come directly from Ann-Sofie's mind.

What happened to Cory Kennedy?

Los que comenzamos a bloggear y seguir blogs de moda hace varios años, no olvidaremos a Cory Kennedy, tal vez una de las primeras internet celebrities que hubo en el mundillo fashionbloggers. Era novia (o es aún, creo) del fotógrado de The Cobra Snake, Mark Hunter. En la página, que cubría mayormente fiestas en LA, Cory se volvió una estrella (principalmente en el 2007), todos los que entrábamos a la web, lo hacíamos principalmente para ver qué se ponía encima.  Era el opuesto de impecable, pero personalmente amaba su desastre (pueden leer algo que escribí al respecto en el 2008 - aquí). A los 15 años, mezclaba Chanel y Gucci con coloridas prendas de segunda, vinchas adidas, cabellos desgreñados y maquillaje corrido. Me parecía admirable, frente al estándar de belleza de ser siempre pulcra, siempre femenina, la joven usaba sus jeans hasta las últimas consecuencias, rotos no porque los jaló con tijeras porque se puso de moda ser 'grunge' o porque Alexander Wang lo instaló en la pasarela (2008), sino porque se rompieron. Era la anti-moda encarnada en una adolescente, se adelantaba a toda propuesta.

La chica juergueaba harto, eso principalmente la volvió famosa. Sin embargo, la fama no le duró mucho, se volvió alcohólica y pasó de portadas de revistas como Nylon a estar encerrada en rehabilitación. Recientemente la  recordé, googleé y encontré una entrevista de Stylelikeu. Me dio gusto escucharla mucho más madura, más clara en lo que quiere hacer (ser DJ) y sobre todo, con un estilo propio, uno tal vez menos desgarbado, pero igual con quiebres interesantes, con dualidad, muy lejos de ser una  aburrida fashion victim.

Cory, ahora rubia, sigue posteando en su blog. No es una escritora brillante, pero ahora que está más sosegada y se ha reiventado, verla es ciertamente un respiro entre tanta egobloger (cada quien enumere las que conoce) para quienes vestirse es más un "deber" (deber lucir así) que un ejercicio de creación. I've mentioned Alexander Wang's work previously on this blog. In his Spring 2008 collection, which is (in my opinion) reallylreally good, He included the denim shorts which became one of the most popular items of the season. These shorts are not the usual ones, they're baggier and actually look like cut-offs made of boyfriend jeans. A couple celebrities have noticed how cool are those, yeah, I'm talking about Kate Moss & Taylor Momsen, who are the only celebrities who until these moment I've seen wearing a pair of them.
