Este marco reconoce que los cuerpos están constituidos socialmente, que están siempre ubicados en la cultura y que el resultado de las prácticas individuales dirigidas al cuerpo, es decir, la «vestimenta», es el resultado de «vestirse» o de «estar vistiéndose». Examinar las influencias estructurales sobre el cuerpo vestido requiere tener en cuenta las restricciones históricas y sociales del mismo, limitaciones que influyen sobre el acto de «vestirse» en un momento dado" (Joanne Entwistle).
